The month was quiet at Kurumba. We had the chance to look into servicing our diving equipment.
The divers had the great chance to encounter so many Mantas at Lankan Manta point. The behavior of the Mantas is interesting under the water this month. They seem to have a lot of energy flying through the full dive site up and down. Coming so close to the divers. Amazing is that they also made some jumps out of the water.
We were as well able to ID one manta with the help of our Manta Trust colleague Emma Bolton which is now based in Euro-Divers Meerufenfushi.
Please find below the details of the ID Manta:
This manta is a male and its name is Albuquerque (I am not sure who named that one…). This is the 22nd time he has been sighted at Lankan, and so far, has never been sighted anywhere else in the Maldives.
Albuquerque got his shark bite on his right pectoral fin in Nov 2009, and his second shark bite happened in Sept 2015, on his left pectoral fin.
Dive site chicken island has been as usual exceptional, sighting several sting rays. They intend to give us a good show and curiously coming closer to our divers.
Hoping to see you all for this amazing encounters under water 🙂
