Make the Switch to Sidemount Diving

The days of sidemount diving only being for technical divers are gone – recreational divers can enjoy the benefits of sidemount diving too!

Benefits of sidemount diving

Sidemount diving is becoming more and more popular as divers discover the benefits of diving with a tank carried on each side of the body instead of on the back. Not only does the sidemount configuration improve position and streamlining, but it also offers more air due to having a double tank capacity and improves safety as the air source is redundant. Better positioning in the water makes the entire diving experience more comfortable which improves air consumption – great news for all who would rather simply enjoy watching the mantas on the cleaning stations than worry about their gas supply!

Underwater photographers and videographers will reap the rewards with extended dive times when trying to capture that perfect shot. The benefits are apparent on land too – no more leaning forward when standing to prevent yourself from toppling over backwards – with the tanks at your sides you can stand upright, you even clip them on and off easily to allow for water entry and exit tank free if desired – divers suffering from back problems will appreciate just how much more accessible it makes diving for them.
