If you are looking for the opportunity to expand your diving knowledge, below are some options and destinations that will bring you beyond the scope of standard recreational scuba diving activities:

Sidemount Diving

PADI Tec Rec: Cala Joncols

tec diving padiThe three PADI Tec Diving courses, Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50 complete your training as an entry-level tec-diver, taking you progressively beyond the limits of recreational diving.

By the end of the Tec 50 course, you’ll learn how to plan deco dives up to 50m using up to 100% O2 and 2 decompression mixes and the use of desktop decompression software to create custom dive tables.

PADI Tec Rec is available in Cala Joncols.

Tec Diving Intl Advanced Nitrox: Cala Joncols

advanced nitrox tec divingThe Tec Diving Intl. Advanced Nitrox Course qualifies divers to use enriched air nitrox from EAN 21 through EAN 100 within your current certification level to a maximum depth of 40 meters during dives without staged decompression.

Often taught in conjunction with the Tec Diving Intl. Decompression Procedures course, this can be considered the foundation of your technical diving career. Advanced Nitrox is also a great course for those wanting to extend their bottom times in shallower depths.

TDI Advanced Nitrox is available in Cala Joncols.

Tec Diving Intl Decompression Procedures: Cala Joncols

tec diving euro divers spainAs sport divers, planned decompression is not something that we do or have been taught. The Tec Diving Intl. Decompression Procedures course prepares you for planned staged decompression diving. With a maximum operating depth of 45m, this course is your first step beyond the sport diving limits.

The Tec Diving Intl. Decompressions Procedures course combined with the TDI Advanced Nitrox course form the foundation of all other technical courses. After these two courses and some additional experience, the stage has been set for you to move onto additional technical levels.

Tec Diving Intl. Decompression Procedures is available in Cala Joncols.

Rebreather Diving: Grand Hotel Hurghada

rebreather scuba divingWe use Draeger Dolphin units and our diving instructors have been extensively trained to guide you trough this new path in recreational scuba diving. The big advantage of these units is the almost bubble-less diving experience causing no fear to the marine life around you, resulting in closer encounters, perfect for the underwater photographer.

Another benefit of using a rebreather for your dives is that your exhaled gas is not released into the water as in conventional scuba diving systems but purified and returned for breathing, you enjoy not only a longer dive but also a warm and moist breathing gas, avoiding that dry throat felling after the dive.

With only a 4-liter tank, you will be able to dive up to 2 hours at a depth of 22 meters, the unit can handle Nitrox mixes from 40% to 60% to match your dive plan and it is important to remember your no-decompression limits.

Any diver older than 15 holding an Open Water Diver certification with at least 20-logged dives can join the Semi-Closed Rebreather lessons. Nitrox certification is recommended but included on the course theory if needed.

Rebreather diving is available at Grand Hotel Hurghada.

Sidemount Diving: Grand Hotel Hurghada, Cala Joncols, Vilamendhoo

sidemount divingSidemount diving feels like free diving, just better, as you can breathe underwater. Imagine yourself perfectly streamlined, enjoying the freedom and the possibility of moving however you want; this is sidemount diving.

With a few exercises that will help you enjoy sidemount diving, we will introduce you into a new experience underwater. You will use either 1 or 2 tanks clipped onto the side of your bcd. Cave divers have used sidemount configuration for a while and enjoy the benefits of sidemount diving, now this is available for recreational divers as well.

Divers with physical challenges, such as a bad back, might find a new and easy way to get more out of their dives from a sidemount configuration. Streamlining, versatility, increased gas supply and problem solving are only a couple of advantages of sidemount diving.

Sidemount diving is available in Grand Hotel Hurghada Cala Joncols and Vilamendhoo.
