When you visit one of the best scuba diving destinations in the world, you’ll naturally want to see the very best of what it has to offer and, in the Maldives, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Divers who choose Kurumba Maldives Resort in North Male Atoll for their holiday will have one of the country’s best dive sites on their doorstep – Tuna Factory, also known as Chicken Island and Fish Tank; it’s a site not to miss and the Euro-Divers team can’t wait to show it off.
Just a 10-minute boat trip away from Kurumba, lies a mind-blowing dive site that is likely to be logged as one of the best dives ever you’ve ever done.
Tuna Factory, as its name suggests, is situated just in front of the harbour of a tuna factory and is a shallow dive, with the best parts at just 5-10 metres in depth – great news for those who always wish their tank would stay fuller for longer!
Once you’ve descended, you’ll understand how this site also gets the name ‘Fish Tank’ for diving here is like being inside a tropical aquarium with large numbers of schooling bannerfish, different species of moray eel and, the stars of the show – stingrays.
On a good day, divers might see 50 or more stingrays in just one dive, a spectacular experience. After dark, Kurumba divers are close enough to be able to visit Tuna Factory for night dives where the action often includes appearances by guitarfish.
This incredible dive site is also accessible, by day, from Club Med Finolhu, Kani, Eriyadu and Meeru.
As part of Euro-Divers’ 5oth Anniversary year celebrations we have a special Stingray Week at Kurumba from 6th to 12th June – we hope you can join us.
Please see our Events Calendar for other celebratory weeks.
