Seeing Dolphins when you come to the Maldives is always a really nice treat but imagine being in the water with them and actually getting to see them up close!

At Euro-Divers Havodda this is possible on our unique Dolphin Snorkeling Safari. This excursion is a combination of a dolphin search, boat snorkeling, and romantic sunset all in one and will last around 4 hours. We will take you around in our traditional Dhoni boat to several spots on the channels of the Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, in search of dolphins. Afterward, we will enjoy some great reefs to do some more snorkeling and at the end of the trip, you can relax on the sunroof of the Dhoni and watch the beautiful Maldivian sunset on the way back to the resort.

On this excursion, you will be guided by our experienced guides who understand the behavior of these animals like no other. They monitor the weather conditions so that they know exactly where to find them. This gives you a very high chance of actually finding them. Sometimes you don’t even need to go that far, and we can find them right on our house reef.

There are two kinds of dolphins that are found frequently in the Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, where Euro-Divers Havodda is based. The first ones are the bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncates), these are the bigger ones that are actually not too shy and can even come very near if they feel like it. Just make sure you keep your distance when snorkeling with them, don’t block their path, and don’t touch them if they do get close.

The second ones are the spinner dolphins (Stenella longirostris), the more gracious ones as they sometimes jump out of the water showing off their acrobatic skills, that’s also where their name comes from. These are the ones that get spotted the most in our atoll and they always know how to put on a show.
