June was all about Mantas at Euro-Divers Vilamendhoo Island Resort.
Every Manta trip we did was successful.
With the help of www.mantatrust.org we could identify some of the Mantas we have seen in our resent Trips. Find below some Information about these beauties.
Sophie is a juvenile female manta that was first identified in November 2013 at Huravalhi Falhu. Sophie has been sighted a total of 12 times, with all encounters taking place in Ari Atoll, and she was last seen on the 21st of March 2016, gulping down large mouthfuls of plankton at Innafushi Falhu, Ari Atoll.
Wolfbite is a juvenile female manta that was first identified in September 2013 at Huravalhi Falhu, in Ari Atoll. Wolfbite is a rather shy little lady and has only been spotted a total of 5 times. all encounters with this girl have taken place in Ari Atoll, and she was last seen in December 2015, indulging in the plankton delights which had concentrated in Maavaru Falhu at the time.
Tess is an adult female manta that was first identified in January 2013 at Kalhahandi Huraa, in Ari Atoll. Tess has been spotted a total of 12 times, all of which have taken place in Ari Atoll. This gorgeous girl was last seen in March 2016 with fresh reproductive wounds on the ventral side of her left pectoral fin. We hope for a new Manta Baby
Duddley is an adult male manta that was first identified in November 2013 at Huravalhi Falhu. This handsome lad has been spotted a total of 6 times and has been noted to enjoy visiting in North Male. In fact, Duddley was last seen at Rasfari North in North Male, in February 2016. It is great to see this handsome guy has made his way back to Ari and is enjoying hanging out with his Huravalhi buddies again.
And as well again finally we have found a new Manta Juvenile Female. We got the opportunity to give the name to this cute Manta as ‘DORI’. It’s the Nickname of our Instructor Magali. That will be the bye bye present for Magali because she is leaving us in beginning of July after 2 Years in Vilamendhoo.
We will be continuing with these amazing Manta trips until November 2016 till the season changes, from December 2016 onwards to the west side of the atoll to see again the Manta’s.
